Needles in my face, why not? Every Thursday for the last month I have been stabbing my face with hundreds of little needles.  It stings a little, and for the next few hours after it continues to sting a bit more, but not too badly.  This procedure is called ‘micro needling’ and it sounds pretty dramatic & scary, but it’s for good reason.  I have read all about it and the reviews but decided to test it for myself.

I use a tool that rolls over my face that creates a pattern of microscopic holes in my skin. (It’s a bit like aerating your lawn.) The purpose is to stimulate collagen growth, making my skin look younger & tighter with fewer wrinkles.  Each little micro cut, causes my skin a wee bit of trauma, igniting my skins healing mechanism, thus producing more collagen.  Prior to my prickly roller treatment, I cleanse my face and apply a topical Hyaluronic Acid.  This will allow the product to seep into my skin with each roll of the needles.  Roll the devise horizontally, vertically and on an diagonal all over your entire face, with gentle pressure.  Over time you will feel more comfortable pressing a bit harder. The entire process takes approximately 5 minutes and it can be done at home.  The best time to do it is when you know you don’t have to wear make up for at least an hour.  Also, avoid doing it just before bed time so all the product can be absorbed into your skin.  So give yourself approximately one hour after your treatment where you can leave your skin totally alone and let it breathe.

After four weeks (with one treatment per week), I have to say I am really pleased with the changes to my skin.  And the real proof is that clients and friends are noticing a difference too.  Some think it is crazy what I am doing, but most can’t wait to try it on their own skin.

It works on men and women, can be used on your face, lips (destroy those nasty little lines around your lips that make you look angry) and body.  I also might add that micro needling has been proven to help with dark under eye circles and stretch marks.  5 minutes a week for improved healthy looking skin? I’m all for it!

I’m always searching for real products and methods to improve skin health and I’ll keep you posted with what I find. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me online or by phone.

Stay tuned.
